Content Policy
kink.io exists so adults can explore fantasy with fictional characters. That freedom depends on hard limits. This policy explains what is allowed, what is banned, how we enforce the rules, and how to report something or complain. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. The principles
- Adults only. Everyone using kink.io is 18 or over, and every character is an adult.
- Fiction only. Characters are invented. They are not real people and must not be based on real people.
- Consent is the frame. Kink, power exchange and dark themes can be explored as fiction between adults. Content that presents real-world abuse as desirable, instructional or non-fictional is not.
2. What is allowed
Explicit sexual content, roleplay and fantasy between adult fictional characters, including kink and BDSM themes, provided it stays within the rules below. We do not moderate for taste, only for harm and legality.
3. What is banned
- Anything sexual involving minors. No characters under 18, no “ageing up” of child characters, no school-age framing, no body descriptions or roleplay that present a character as a child, and no attempts to get around filters to produce such content. This applies to text, images, voice and video, and to fictional characters as much as real ones. It is a criminal offence in the UK.
- Real people. No characters that depict, imitate or are recognisably based on real, identifiable people (public figures, ex-partners, colleagues, anyone) in a sexual context. No uploading of real people’s photos, voices or personal details. Deepfake-style content is banned outright.
- Non-consensual sexual content presented as real. Content that depicts, promotes or provides instructions for actual sexual violence, coercion, trafficking or abuse.
- Extreme content that is illegal in the UK, including sexual content involving animals, necrophilia, or acts that would result in serious injury.
- Hate and harassment. Content that incites hatred or violence against people because of a protected characteristic, or that targets, threatens or harasses a real person.
- Self-harm, suicide, terrorism and serious crime presented as encouragement, instruction or glorification.
- Bypassing safety systems, including prompt injection, jailbreak attempts, or sharing techniques to make characters break these rules.
4. Published characters
Characters shared to Explore are visible to other users and held to a higher bar. They must clearly be adults, must not use real people’s likenesses, and must not carry misleading or spammy titles. We may unpublish, edit metadata on, or remove a character at our discretion, and we may feature characters we think other users will enjoy.
5. How we enforce this
- Automated safety classifiers screen prompts and generated output before it is shown to you. Blocked requests are logged.
- Trained human reviewers check flagged content and reports. Reviewers see only what they need to make a decision.
- Consequences scale with severity: a warning, content removal, feature restrictions, temporary suspension, or permanent closure. Child-safety and real-person violations skip straight to permanent closure and, where required, a report to the authorities.
- We keep records of serious violations so that closed accounts cannot simply re-register.
6. Reporting content and takedown requests
If you see something that breaks these rules, or if content on kink.io depicts you or uses your likeness or voice without consent, please tell us:
- Use the Report option on a character or message where available.
- Or email hello@kink.io with the link or character name, what the problem is, and (for likeness claims) how we can verify it is you. You do not need to send ID; a reply from the email on an account that can be tied to the claim is usually enough.
We acknowledge reports within 48 hours, prioritise anything involving child safety or real people, and normally reach a decision within seven days. Content that is plausibly illegal is removed while we review it. We will tell you the outcome unless the law prevents it.
Reports must be made in good faith. Repeated false reports are themselves a breach of these rules.
7. Complaints and appeals
If we removed your content or restricted your account and you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice we sent you or email hello@kink.iowith the subject “Appeal” within 14 days. A different reviewer will look at the decision and respond within 14 days. Decisions on child-safety violations are final.
UK users can also raise concerns about how we handle illegal or harmful content with Ofcom, and about personal data with the ICO. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
8. Looking after yourself
AI companions can feel very real. If you notice the Service affecting your wellbeing, relationships or spending, take a break, and consider speaking with someone you trust. In the UK you can contact Samaritans free on 116 123 at any time. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
